A five-a-side football tournament hosted by Phoenix ME has raised crucial funds to support a young child undergoing stem cell treatment for T-Cell Lymphoma. The charity event, held at Powerleague Shoreditch, drew more than 100 players and dozens of spectators, uniting staff, subcontractors and project teams for a cause close to many hearts.
The tournament was launched in aid of the Lew Richards campaign, a JustGiving appeal set up to fund life-saving treatment abroad. Over the course of the evening, fifteen teams competed in good spirits and glorious sunshine, culminating in a tense final between Phoenix ME’s CAD team, dubbed the ‘PME Reserves’, and the Angel Square project team. The latter emerged victorious, taking home the trophy after a closely fought match.
While the evening raised money for a vital cause, it also highlights the company’s focus on employee wellbeing. Initiatives like this aim to break down silos across the business, encourage physical activity, and build connection outside of formal working environments.
