Shell & Core Upgrade Across 13 Storeys

PME were appointed to deliver the complete Shell & Core infrastructure upgrade for Arundel Great Court—a 13-storey residential and hotel complex overlooking the River Thames. The scope included Electrical, Mechanical, Public Health, Fire Alarm, Security, BMS, and ICT services across 13 floors. Acting as lead coordinator, PME developed all 3D coordination drawings following detailed surveys of existing services and the building’s structure. The MEP installation featured extensive plant systems including chillers, boilers, CHP, plate heat exchangers, pumps, water treatment plant, generators, ATS units, and full containment. Systems also included LV and UPS distribution, BMS backbone wiring, energy monitoring, leak detection, and fire-rated ductwork, as well as full mechanical testing and commissioning.

Large-Scale Distribution with Seamless Integration

New services were distributed from main plantrooms on basement levels B2 and B3 and spanned the entire development via four primary electrical risers and 15 mechanical risers. These served secondary plantrooms across multiple floors, 167 residential apartments, and 100 hotel rooms. The pipework installation alone covered 14.8 miles—equivalent to walking from Phoenix’s head office to the Dartford Crossing.

Electrical cabling extended 75 miles in total, comparable to the distance from PME’s head office to Southampton. This high-performance infrastructure delivery ensured consistent service across complex zones, supporting diverse residential, hospitality, and plant requirements in a cohesive system design.
